1. Brief intro.

3. Chemical property of magnesium hydroxide

Molecular formula: Mg(OH)2, relative molecular weight: 58.32. It belongs to hexagonal system. Pure magnesium hydroxide is white crystal or powder; natural magnesium hydroxide is white, offwhite or light yellow semi-transparent crystalline ore. Density: 2.39g/cm3(25ºC), decomposition temperature: 350ºC, refractive index: 1.561-1.581, hardness(Mohs scale): 2-3, magnesium hydroxide is insoluble in water, it will be decomposed into magnesium oxide and water at 350ºC, and will completely lose water and turn into magnesium oxide at 500ºC.
